Technical consulting: audits, roadmaps and stack selection

The most expensive decision in a software project is almost always the first one, and it gets made when you know the least. These are four occasions to make it alongside people who build software every day, before committing a budget. Each has a stated duration and something written at the end, which is yours to keep even if we never work together.

What we build

Not sure yet what you need? That is where we start.

Technical audit

Two weeks on a project that already exists: code, infrastructure, security, cost. It produces a document listing the problems by severity, what fixing them costs and what not fixing them costs. If the verdict is to rebuild, that is written down too.

Product roadmap

From an idea to a plan you can quote. Three weeks to define what makes the first version and what waits, with an estimate per block. Mostly it is there to decide what not to build yet.

Stack selection

One week to answer a single question: on which technologies, and why. It includes the cost of running them over time and how easy it is to find people who know them, which is the line usually forgotten.

Ongoing advisory

For anyone with an in-house team or another supplier who wants someone reading the code, sitting in on decisions and saying when a road leads nowhere. On agreed days per month, not on call.

Who it makes sense for

Who it makes sense for

  • Anyone with an idea who does not yet know whether it needs software, a site or an automation.
  • Anyone holding quotes that differ wildly, with no way to tell which one is realistic.
  • Anyone with a project that has stalled, who wants an outside read before changing supplier.
  • Anyone deciding whether to rebuild or repair, where the answer is worth months of work.
Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Does the consulting tie us to developing with you?

No, deliberately. The document it produces is yours, and it is meant to help you get the work quoted elsewhere too. Consulting that is only worth something if you then hire us is a sales pitch in disguise.

How much does a technical audit cost?

It is a fixed-duration format, so it has a defined price we state before starting rather than a running meter. The figure depends on the size of the project to read: show it to us and we will tell you what the format you need costs.

What do you need from us to start?

For an audit, read access to the code and infrastructure, and half an hour with whoever worked on it. For a roadmap, an hour with whoever decides and an hour with whoever will use the thing daily. They are almost never the same person, and hearing both is half the work.

I do not know what I need yet. Is it too early to talk?

It is the right moment. The cost of finding out late that you needed something else is far higher than a first call. Bring the problem, not the solution: working out which one you need is exactly the job.

Shall we talk about it?

Tell us about the process that does not work. We reply within 24 hours, with a first 30-minute call and no commitment.
